the vcscreen recorder is a small little tool mainly made for parents who want to be able to record their computer screen when others are using it. while not a solution from stopping children from abusing the internet but it is a tool to see what they do. it doesn't try to hide itself from the children. i say let them know you are recording so they know if they try, they will be caught. of course smart computer savy kids can get by this i am sure, but if they do, you will know that timestamps are missing in the database thus you know they went around it on purpose. also if the application is forced closed via the task manager it will log it and notify you each time the application starts again in the future until the admin password is entered and you clear the message.
the vcscreen recorder simply sits in the system tray and takes screen captures of the screen at an interval you set. default is 5min. it then stores those images in a database that you can access from the application (with password of course). you can clean up the database at will deleting images/days after you review the images. the images are jpgs and captured at a very low quality to help avoid large data file size. they are still good enough quality to see what is on the screen captures. on the interface you can double click any image to enlarge to full screen to see the screen information in full.
this program does use ado and the jet 4.0 drivers. these are not included with the install. you can find the latest mdac (ado) install at: mdac downloads and you can find jet 4.0 at: jet 4.0 downloads.
note that the tool only records while there has been mouse movement during the set interval of screen capturing. so it will stop recording when the mouse has not been moving.
